Xeomin

What is Xeomin?
Xeomin® belongs to a class of drugs that temporarily block nerve signals to muscles in the body. This differs from dermal fillers, which adds volume where it is lacking. Xeomin® and Botox® contain the same active ingredient botulinum toxin. In large doses botulinum toxin is considered to be one of the most potent neuromodulators. The resulting muscle relaxation and decrease in movement reduce the appearance of lines or wrinkles in the area. Those whose cosmetic results from Jeuveau or Botox® are unsatisfactory may have more success with Xeomin®.

What does Xeomin® help?
Xeomin® injections are used to help fight signs of aging on the face, such as:
-
Crow’s feet
-
Glabellar lines
-
Bunny lines
-
Frown lines
-
Brow wrinkles

What is the difference between Xeomin® and Botox®?
While Botox® and Xeomin® both contain the main active ingredient and share the same result, Xeomin® uses the purest form (aka “pure tox). Xeomin® is a “naked” neurotoxin. It only contains a single ingredient, while Botox® includes additional proteins clustered around the active ingredient. The benefit of Xeomin’s pure-form means patients have a lower risk of developing resistance (antibodies) that can limit its desired effects.

Xeomin® is specifically indicated for cosmetic treatment between or around the eyes. This helps combat unwanted signs of aging, such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles. Xeomin® may also be used for the treatment of wrinkles and fine lines around other areas, such as the lips or forehead. However, you will need to speak to Jacqueline Trcka about your specific needs and whether treatment with Xeomin® is the best treatment option for you.

What is involved with the treatment of Xeomin®?
Xeomin® is performed as an outpatient procedure and involves your nurse practitioner gently injecting the Xeomin treatment solution into needed injection sites. To begin, you will take a comfortable seated position. Once you are comfortable and relaxed, your nurse practitioner will gently inject the Xeomin solution into the skin. Depending on your treatment needs, the Xeomin injection will either be injected into the forehead, between the eyes, or other areas. The number of injection sites will vary based on your treatment needs.

Immediately after the procedure is complete, you may notice slight bumps at the injection sites. These should go away after 10–15 minutes. Treatment with Xeomin is virtually painless and involves no scarring of the skin. Visible results can be seen one to ten days after treatment and can last around three to four months. In order to maintain results, repeat visits may be needed. After treatment, it is recommended that you do not touch, exercise, or apply direct heat to treatment areas. More details will be discussed during your consultation.
